The ACS Division of Organic Chemistry and ACS Publications are proud to announce the winners of the 2023 Organic Letters, Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organometallics, and Organic Process Research & Development lectureship awards.
- The Journal of Organic Chemistry Award: Christine M. Le and her group at York University, Canada, are recognized for their article Synthesis of Carbamoyl Fluorides Using a Difluorophosgene Surrogate Derived from Difluorocarbene and Pyridine N-Oxides. More information on the 2023 award can be found at ACS Axial. The research team will be honored during an ACS Division of Organic Chemistry symposium at the ACS Fall National Meeting in San Francisco, California, August 13-17.
- The Organic Letters Award: Daniele Leonori and colleagues at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, are recognized for their article “A Halogen-Atom Transfer (XAT)-Based Approach to Indole Synthesis Using Aryl Diazonium Salts and Alkyl Iodides“. More information on the 2023 award can be found at ACS Axial. The research team will be honored during an ACS Division of Organic Chemistry symposium at the ACS Fall National Meeting in San Francisco, California, August 13-17.
- The Organometallics Award: Jesús Campos Manzano and colleagues, University of Seville, Spain are recognized for their work on metalla-Frustrated Lewis Pairs (FLPs), elegantly bridging late-transition-metal chemistry with main-group chemistry and catalysis for impactful developments in organic synthesis. Publications in 2022 in Organometallics include “Coordination of E—C Bonds (E = Zn, Mg, Al) and the Zn—H Bonds of (C5Me5)ZnH and (C5Me5)ZnZnH across a Quadruply Bonded Dimolybdenum Dihydride Complex” and “Dicoordinate Au(I)&ndash”Ethylene Complexes as Hydroamination Catalysts“. More information on the 2023 award can be found at ACS Axial. Dr. Campos will be honored during the ACS Spring Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, in March 2024.
- The Organic Process Research & Development Award: Jason Stevens and Colleagues are recognized for their article “Leveraging High-Throughput Experimentation to Drive Pharmaceutical Route Invention: A Four-Step Commercial Synthesis of Branebrutinib (BMS-986195). More information on the 2023 award can be found at ACS Axial. Jason (Jay) Stevens will represent the coauthors and be honored during the 48th National Organic Chemistry Symposium (NOS) in South Bend, Indiana, July 9 – 13, 2023.”
